Kerala Government May Have Compromised Health Surveillance Info

As per a report on The Hindu, Ramesh Chennithala of the Indian National Congress alleged that the Kerala government may have used compromised personal medical information of thousands of individuals under surveillance for COVID-19. This comes at a time when the Government had contracted US-based Sprinklr to collate health data of citizens.

Mr. Chennithala also went on to assert his views on the importance of information privacy and its roles in the society. If this is true, Big Pharma have an upper advantage of creating a monopoly in the industry based on the data. On a wider note, this data potentially explores all possible diseases or ailments these individuals under surveillance have. This can help the pharma brands decide on creating a man-made deficiency in the market.

As of writing this article, The Hindu didn’t publish any statement from the IT department of Kerala on this issue.
